2nd Annual Veterans Art Exhibition 2018

On November 11, 2018, I had the honor of curating and hosting the 2nd Annual Veterans art Exhibition in Austin, Texas.

The Austin Visual Arts Association , a 501(C)3 nonprofit arts organization, is pleased to present an exhibition featuring art created by US military veterans to celebrate Veterans Day.

Vets and Family Art Show 2018

This show was open to all Veterans, Active Duty Military, and their families. I co-curated this show with the talented veteran artist Robb McKenzie with sponsorship from Jerry's Artarama art supply store. Art for this show will be on display from May 4, 2018 - June 28, 2018 at Jerry's Artarama.

Texas Creative Forces Conference 2018

In late January of 2018, I was honored to be the keynote speaker at this amazing conference where I spoke about "living a creative life". The theme of the conference was helping military personnel heal from the complex wounds of our recent wars through art and art therapies.

The event was also attended by 2nd lady Karen Pence (a watercolor painter herself) and Cecilia Abbott (the wife of TX Governor, Greg Abbott). Here is more information about the conference:

1st Annual Veterans Art Exhibition 2017

On November 10, 2017, I had the honor of curating and hosting the 1st Annual Veterans art Exhibition in Austin, Texas.

The Austin Visual Arts Association , a 501(C)3 nonprofit arts organization, is pleased to present an exhibition featuring art created by US military veterans to celebrate Veterans Day. The opening event for the show will take place on November 10, 2017 from 6-8 PM and the art will remain on display and for sale from November 11, 2017 (Veterans Day) until December 2, 2017. The exhibition will be at the Austin Art Space Gallery, 7739 Northcross Dr., Suite Q, Austin, TX 78757. Attendance is free. Art Space Gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 11-6 p.m.

 

The event will also allow the public and veteran artists to give back to the community because 20% of all proceeds from the sale of art will go to the Austin Furniture Bank. The Austin Furniture Bank is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that provides basic furnishings and household necessities to help formerly homeless persons transform their newly-acquired empty dwellings into homes.
